It’s interesting that nosotros Christians telephone think our fourth dimension amongst the Lord a “quiet time.”
The Psalms offering insights into a salubrious human relationship amongst the Lord as well as they encourage us to serenity ourselves, take away all distractions (e.g. Psalm 131:2), focus on God as well as His Word (e.g. Psalm 119:9-16), as well as fifty-fifty sit down inwards quiet earlier Him (e.g. Psalm 46:10).
But the Psalmists also yell out inwards pain, despair, hopelessness, frustration, fear, as well as anger (e.g. Psalm 69). These aren’t “quiet” things, only they’re business office of a salubrious human relationship amongst God. God wants us to come upward to Him honestly, openly, sharing our fears, confusion, questions, as well as doubts.
The Psalmists also broke the quiet amongst praise as well as worship - singing, shouting, as well as speaking words of gratitude as well as dearest for the Lord (e.g. Psalm 100).
And, of course, the Psalms (and all of Scripture) encourage us to pray for ourselves as well as others, whether quietly or aloud (Psalm 32:6).
Psalms give us a balanced persuasion of fourth dimension amongst the Lord that is ever good, only non ever “quiet.”
Note: I’m going to conk along to purpose the term “quiet time” because it’s easily understood, only I sometimes mean value nosotros should come upward up amongst a to a greater extent than plumbing equipment name. What would y'all suggest?
