Moses saw himself every bit a rescuer (Exodus 2:11-25).
He killed an Egyptian spell rescuing a Hebrew slave as well as had to flee for his life.
When he reached Midian, his outset human activity was to rescue Reuel's daughters (including his time to come wife) from smashing shepherds.
But the years that followed changed Moses. He lost his self-confidence.
God could convey used the confident immature Moses, Pharaoh's adopted grandson. He was bold as well as self-assured. He had a seat of ability as well as influence.
But God used the elderly, fearful shepherd Moses, the "nobody" who no longer imagined himself a rescuer (Exodus 4:1-17).*
We select leaders who are confident inward themselves, confident inward their abilities, those alongside proficient self-images, who believe they tin create anything they ready their minds to do. We select them as well as endeavour to emulate them.
But God waited until Moses was drained of his ain self-confidence as well as hence he could house his confidence inward God (1 Peter 5:6). May nosotros brand that our destination every bit well.
* God rebuked Moses for his excuses at the burning bush, only he wasn't trying to brand Moses believe inward himself. He was trying to brand Moses believe inward Him.
