We are mayhap the around conceited people of whatever era inward history.
People in i trial understood Proverbs 27:2:
“Let person else praise you, together with non your ain mouth; an outsider, together with non your ain lips."
Now, self-praise is common, whether coming from celebrities or ordinary children, on TV, social media, together with inward everyday conversations.
And dear of self has kept us sinning always since.
But Christians should recognize the errors of the self-esteem movement.(1)
We bring Scripture to conduct us:
“Do non intend of yourself to a greater extent than highly than you lot ought...” Romans 12:3
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to hold upward my disciple must deny themselves…'” Matthew 16:24
“In humility value others inward a higher house yourselves.” Philippians 2:3 (also Romans 12:10)
“In your relationships alongside i another, bring the same mindset every bit Christ Jesus…he made himself nothing...” Philippians 2:5-7
Humility is biblical. Conceit is not.
