"What variety of greedy am I?"

This enquiry haunted Ann B. Davis ("Alice" on the Brady Bunch) during the tiptop of her telly fame.

That's when Davis discovered that alone Jesus could satisfy: "I had it all," she'd country amongst a smile, "but God made me a ameliorate offer."

Ann stayed inwards our dwelling inwards 1984 when she shared her storey amongst our armed forces wives fellowship.

She spoke nearly the fact that happiness does non come upwardly from career, wealth or fame. She had all of those things, simply she was non content until she constitute Jesus (John 10:10).

Ann's humble mental attitude together with cheerful spirit made her a joy to convey inwards our home.

Don't Hand Me What Ane Deserve!

We don't bring cable TV, exactly when nosotros go I similar watching HGTV.(1)

On a recent trip, an HGTV demo featured a twosome who identified themselves equally Christians. They were looking for a starter dwelling as well as exclusively houses amongst modern, top-of-the-line features would do. They called everything else "disgusting."

I idea close how excited my hubby as well as I were amongst
our commencement home, an older single-wide mobile dwelling inward a crowded trailer park.

And I wondered if this HGTV twosome realized that homes they called "disgusting" were dream homes for most of the world.

Unfortunately, at that spot are times I besides bring a feel of entitlement(2) similar this immature couple, thinking I deserve something I don't.

And a feel of entitlement is non exclusively a pitiful witness; it's a sign of shallow faith. Ouch!

The cure: rigid doses of God's Truth, remembering what we  really deserve is conk as well as aught more. Period. But the undeserved gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23).

Make A Joyful Noise

As a novel believer, I memorized Psalm 100. (I learned it every bit a vocal - an first-class way to memorize.)

Verse one is translated inward the KJV in addition to ESV every bit "Make a joyful racket unto the Lord."

Sometimes people joke close the fact that non all of us are bang-up singers, only at to the lowest degree nosotros tin brand a joyful noise.

There's truth inward that joke because God isn't every bit interested inward how nosotros sing out loud every bit how nosotros sing inside.

If nosotros are going to "bring proficient things out of proficient stored upwards within of us" (Matthew 12:35), nosotros involve to accept proficient inside.

3 Ways nosotros tin "make a joyful noise":

1. Dwelling on God's Word, reciting in addition to singing Psalms, hymns in addition to spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16).

2. Thinking close our blessings in addition to the proficient things inward our lives (Philippians 4:8).

3. Refusing to scream upwards ungodly thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Let's non allow a 24-hour interval acquire past times without "making a joyful racket unto the Lord" within in addition to out loud.

Choosing The Ancient Paths

I left my hubby at the aerodrome in addition to traveled dwelling at the legal speed limit. At times it seemed I was standing nonetheless equally cars passed me left in addition to right.

I sometimes experience similar that when it comes to my moral values too.

The basis no longer obeys God's "safe speed limits."

In truth, most folks aren't fifty-fifty on the same path that Christians travel. They're on the wide highway amongst "rest stops" of abortion, assisted suicide, homosexuality, premarital gender activity in addition to other sins that Pb them farther away from God's grace in addition to deliverance.(1)

They believe God's commands are speed traps based on outdated, irrelevant laws.

But the Lord says "Stand at the crossroads in addition to look; inquire for the ancient paths, inquire where the skillful way is, in addition to walk inwards it, in addition to you lot volition respect residual for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16

The traffic is heavy on the wide highway that leads to destruction, in addition to sometimes it gets distracting (Matthew 7:13-14).

But nosotros tin rest on the ancient paths past times keeping our eyes on the Lord (Proverbs 4:27).

Light Within

People are similar stained - drinking glass windows. They sparkle as well as smoothen when the Sun is out, only when the darkness sets in, their truthful beauty is revealed entirely if at that spot is a low-cal from within. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

When I met Karen, cancer had already ravaged her body. She was weak as well as entirely occasionally came out of her room. I lived inwards her dwelling vi weeks, helping alongside chores as well as meals. And I observed her…

She had a soft glow…peaceful, grateful, smiling. Her five-year disease had left it’s mark, only she was nonetheless beautiful. It was equally if she had a undercover “beauty serum.”

“let the beauty of the LORD our God live on upon us…If y'all are filled alongside light, alongside no night corners, as well as thence your whole life volition live on radiant...” Psalm 90:17; Luke 11:36

Karen's beauty came from inside as well as her "serum" was the beauty of the Lord, inwards Whom she trusted. Christ's low-cal shone brightly fifty-fifty inwards her dying body.

There's No Incertitude Nearly Christ's Deity

Recently I got an electronic mail from a “christian cult” member. He called me a liar because I said Jesus is God. I operate the term “christian cult” to designate groups that operate the Bible every bit business office of their fake doctrine.(1)

It’s interesting how Satan has incorporated this heresy into a set out of “christian cults.”

Beginning amongst his foremost prevarication inwards the Garden (Genesis 3:4-5), Satan has been deceiving people almost God’s truthful character. And christian cults are 1 of his devious methods.

There was alone 1 way that the righteous requirements of the constabulary could hold upwards fulfilled, the alone way nosotros could hold upwards saved: God Himself had to choose the shape of a human too overstep for our sins (Romans 5:6-8; Romans 8:1-4; Philippians 2:5-8). If Jesus were exactly a human too non God, nosotros would non hold upwards saved.

But Jesus is God!

There are many Scriptures proving Christ's deity, both guide too indirectly. I've listed some below.

You powerfulness desire to pin, bookmark, or impress this devotion too hence you lot have got this listing inwards your "toolbox" when explaining or defending your faith.

Jesus is clearly referred to every bit God inwards these Scriptures:

John 1:1 too 1:14: “In the outset was the Word, too the Word was amongst God, too the Word was God....The Word became flesh too made his dwelling identify amid us. We have got seen his glory, the glory of the 1 too alone Son, who came from the Father, amount of grace too truth.”

John 1:18: "No 1 has always seen God, but the 1 too alone Son, who is himself God too is inwards closest human relationship amongst the Father, has made him known."

Titus 2:13: "while nosotros await for the blessed hope--the appearing of the glory of our dandy God too Savior, Jesus Christ…,"

2 Peter 1:1: "Simon Peter, a retainer too apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God too Savior Jesus Christ have got received a organized faith every bit precious every bit ours...."

Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself volition give you lot a sign: The virgin volition conceive too give nativity to a son, too volition telephone outcry upwards him Immanuel.” [“Immanuel” agency “God amongst us.”]

Jesus existed earlier His fourth dimension on earth:

John 8:58: "'Very genuinely I tell you,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!'"

Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday too today too forever."

1 Corinthians 10:2-4: "They were all baptized into Moses inwards the cloud too inwards the sea. They all ate the same spiritual nutrient too drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual stone that accompanied them, too that stone was Christ."

Philippians 2:5-8: "In your relationships amongst 1 another, have got the same mindset every bit Christ Jesus: Who, existence inwards real nature God, did non consider equality amongst God something to hold upwards used to his ain advantage;  rather, he made himself goose egg past times taking the real nature of a servant, existence made inwards human likeness. And existence constitute inwards appearance every bit a man, he humbled himself past times becoming obedient to death—even decease on a cross!"

Scripture forbids worshiping anyone or anything every bit good God:

Revelation 19:9-10: "Then the angel said to me, 'Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' And he added, 'These are the truthful words of God.' At this I cruel at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, 'Don't create that! I am a immature human retainer amongst you lot too amongst your brothers too sisters who concur to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.'"

But Jesus is worshiped throughout Scripture:
He is worshiped every bit a baby:
Matthew 2:11
Jesus allows people to worship Him:
Matthew 14:33;  Matthew 28:9;  Matthew 28:17;  Luke 24:52;  John 9:38

Jesus, every bit business office of the Trinity, is the Creator:

Hebrews 1: "In the past times God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times too inwards diverse ways, 2 but inwards these final days he has spoken to us past times his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, too through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory too the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things past times his powerful word…. 6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, 'Let all God’s angels worship him.' …8 almost the Son he says, 'Your throne, O God, volition final for always too ever; a scepter of judge volition hold upwards the scepter of your kingdom….' 10 He also says, 'In the beginning, Lord, you lot set the foundations of the earth, too the heavens are the piece of job of your hands.'"

Colossians 1:15-17: "Christ is the visible picture of the invisible God. He existed earlier anything was created too is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything inwards the heavenly realms too on earth. He made the things nosotros tin come across too the things nosotros can’t see—such every bit thrones, kingdoms, rulers, too government inwards the unseen world. Everything was created through him too for him. He existed earlier anything else, too he holds all creation together."
------------------------
(1) Christian cults are non Christian but claim to be. Satan uses half-truths to trap people inwards this type of cult. They choose some of what Scripture teaches too operate words that audio similar, but the underlying pregnant is different. Two prominent cults which deny Christ’s deity (as defined inwards Scripture) are Mormons too Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses clearly tell that Jesus is non God. Mormons (LDS) have got an evolving too confusing sentiment of Jesus that is difficult to pivot down. This article should evidence helpful: "Is the Mormon Jesus the Brother of Satan?"

In the Jehovah's Witnesses' New World "translation" they operate lilliputian "g" for god inwards passages where Jesus is referred to every bit God, or they add together conjunctions non constitute inwards the Greek too hence that it reads "God too the Savior." There is no set down for these changes. They have got exactly manipulated the text to check their beliefs. However, many of the passages higher upwards read the same inwards the New World translation, too hence their translation has non completely removed proofs that Jesus is God. Mormons operate the King James Version of the Bible, but they claim it has been corrupted, too they claim it is alone a partial revelation too needs to hold upwards supplemented past times their other "holy books." See The Mormon "Word of God"  too "When Angels Tell Lies".

Viral Video: Pocket-Size Man Child Memorizing Scripture A-Z

Not all viral videos are worth watching. But I constitute 1 this calendar week that's good worth three minutes (HERE).

It made me smiling ... together with convicted me.

I felt a like conviction years agone when my friend Cindy told me her immature boy had memorized the entire majority of Philippians.(1)

The video I linked higher upwards features a modest man child sharing a Bible poetry for each alphabetic lineament of the alphabet. Not exclusively is it sugariness to involve heed such a immature vocalism repeating God's precious Word, it's a confirmation of what nosotros humans tin practise if nosotros larn inward a priority.

How of import is God's Word?

Is it of import plenty to memorize - fifty-fifty if retention operate is "not your thing"?

While I've memorized quite a fleck of Scripture, I dubiety that the Words of God I know outnumber the lyrics, commercials, together with useless trivia I know.

Will you lot bring together me inward committing to hold upwards to a greater extent than regular inward memorizing Scripture?

Traveling inward Croatia, I was impressed alongside the rugged mountains jutting inward a higher house the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea.

You can't assist only bring a salubrious fright for their size together with presence, together with the give-and-take awesome continually crossed my lips.

My Hungarian friend Magdi said there’s no equivalent for the give-and-take awesome inward Hungarian, together with thus she explains it to Hungarians every bit "admiration mixed alongside fear."

That's fitting.

If hikers, boaters, drivers, together with aviators bring a salubrious fright for the rugged mountains of Croatia, they tin safely admire together with relish their beauty.

That's likewise truthful of God.

God’s interplanetary space nature together with ability inspire a salubrious fear,(1) only those who honour God's presence tin relish together with admire the beauty of His salvation together with the security of His love.

The Forgiveness Of A Mistreated Slave

Even though slavery wasn’t legal inwards the early on 1900’s, Robert Sadler too ii of his sisters were sold to a white farmer inwards Anderson, SC.

Robert was mistreated too 1 of his sisters was tortured too killed past times this evil farmer.

This cruelty is difficult to imagine, exactly non every bit difficult every bit the residual of Robert's story.

After Robert gained his freedom, he gave his life fully to Christ too forgave the evil identify unit of measurement who had mistreated him too his sisters.

Then he too his sis did something else incredible--they took their elderly begetter into their dwelling too cared for him until he died.

Why is this then incredible? Because their begetter was the 1 who had sold them into slavery.

Romans 12:14 says “Bless those who persecute you; bless too produce non curse.”

If y'all are struggling to forgive individual today, compare your province of affairs to Robert's too hold out encouraged that y'all tin produce all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13).

I strongly recommend The Emancipation of Robert Sadler which was out of impress for years exactly has of late been republished. I become no compensation for this recommendation.

Yoked to Christ, nosotros walk where He walks:

Such A Pity, Non A Party

Self-pity: "excessive, self-absorbed unhappiness over one's ain troubles."

Sometimes I allow self-pity to accept accuse of my caput as well as heart.

Not a practiced thing. Not a God thing.

It's non that I don't direct maintain reasons to move disappointed as well as fifty-fifty discouraged.

Paul said he was 1 time then discouraged he felt he couldn't larn on (2 Corinthians 1:8-10).

That's when he turned it all over to the Lord.

And went on.

And that's what nosotros must create amongst self-pity.

Self-pity is self-focused, self-indulgent, self-pandering, self-destructive.

It's sin.

We overcome it by:

1. Forgiving others (Matthew 6:14-15).
2. Denying ourselves (Luke 9:23).
3. Thinking of others (Philippians 2:3-4).
4. Dwelling on the positive (Philippians 4:8).
5. Remembering God uses bad for practiced (Romans 8:28).
6. Remembering God wants to comfort us inwards difficulty (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).
7. Moving on (Philippians 3:10-14).

May the Lord assist us create these things whenever self-pity enters our hearts. We are able through His mighty power, to arrive at infinitely to a greater extent than than nosotros inquire or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
