Logical Exaggeration

"We tin dismiss exaggerate nigh many things; but nosotros tin dismiss never exaggerate our obligation to Jesus or the compassionate abundance of the dearest of Jesus to us." A.W. Tozer

Have you lot always idea nigh doing something spiritually extravagant like:

• Giving generously to kingdom work--not merely regular tithing, but sacrificial giving.
• Giving upward your opor-garai for a mission trip.
• Giving upward sports or a hobby to pass to a greater extent than fourth dimension inwards the Word.

But you lot gave yourself fourth dimension to mean value nigh it together with it didn't appear logical. Or perchance you lot told a friend who helped you lot encounter it wasn't practical or necessary.

I've talked myself out of things similar this. But I loathe the companionship that puts me in.

In John 12:5 when Mary anoints Jesus feet amongst costly perfume, Judas makes a real logical argument: “Why wasn’t this perfume sold together with the coin given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.”

Let's non move "logical" when it comes to Jesus.

Going Forth

China inwards the belatedly 1800s wasn't prophylactic or friendly for foreigners. But Johathan as well as Rosalind Goforth left Canada as well as gave upwards comfort, convenience as well as security to portion Christ alongside the Chinese people.

Conditions were hard as well as demanding, as well as they ended upwards losing 3 of their children to disease.

During the Boxer Revolution anti-Christian soldiers trounce Jonathan roughly decease as well as the Goforths fled for their lives. But equally before long equally Red People's Republic of China re-opened to foreigners, they returned.

Their lives were a reflection of the words of Paul inwards Philippians 3:7-14:
"I see everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I own got lost all things. I see them garbage ... I press on to accept concur of that for which Christ Jesus took concur of me."

Today I'm quest what things inwards my life I should see "garbage" for the sake of Christ. I promise you'll live on prompted to inquire the same.

Danger, Death, Devotion

Because no mission organizations would sponsor function inwards the unsafe African Sudan inwards 1893, Tom, Walter, together with Rowland went on their own.

Within a year, Tom together with Walter were dead from diseases contracted during failed attempts to accomplish remote villages amongst the Gospel.

Does this appear a useless loss of life?

Walter Gowan wrote these words when dying:

"Well, glory to God, He has enabled me to brand a difficult struggle for the Sudan, together with although it may appear similar a full failure together with defeat, it is not. We shall convey the victory. I convey no regret for task this  venture, together with inwards this mode my life has non been thrown away." *

Rowland Bingham, the alone survivor of the three, devoted the balance of his life to setting upwards a network of missions inwards the Sudan.

In dying or living, obedience to God is never wasted.

Don't Forget

Last twelvemonth vii of your brothers together with sisters celebrated Christmas inwards a chicken coop, shackled manus together with foot...for 20 days.

Why? Because they did something illegal inwards Laos--they gathered to celebrate Christ's birth. The law arrested them.

The side yesteryear side 20 days, they celebrated the persecution of their Savior instead of his joyful birth.

Open Doors ministry building says, "persecution together with Christmas oft become hand-in-hand for Christians inwards over sixty countries merely about the world."

Most of y'all reading this volition celebrate Christmas alongside friends or household unit of measurement inwards comfortable homes alongside special foods together with luxury gifts.

There's no argue for us to hold out ashamed of our blessings....unless nosotros forgot those who are less fortunate, peculiarly those who endure for the Name inwards a higher identify all Names (Matthew 25:34-40).

These are our brothers together with sisters. How volition nosotros manage them this year? Please accept fourth dimension during your Christmas celebration to pray for those who are suffering.

The Keen Challenges Together With Keen Faith Of Ruth

Imagine this:

You're immature in addition to widowed.

You tin supply to your identify unit of measurement in addition to all things familiar.

Or yous tin larn to your mother-in-law's hometown where you'll last a stranger in addition to a foreigner. And around people volition last prejudiced against yous because of your ethnic background.

Your mother in law strongly urges yous to rest amongst your identify unit of measurement in addition to supply to your infidel gods.

But yous vow to never abandon her or the True in addition to Living God.

When yous larn inwards in her hometown, she complains bitterly to everyone, ignoring your sacrifices for her.

Nevertheless, yous similar a shot showtime looking for a means to back upward her, in addition to yous receive got on humble, back-breaking run inwards the hot sun.

When she recommends yous to get hitched amongst an older man, yous agree.

It's in addition to thence slow to read Bible stories in addition to forget they tape events inwards the lives of real people similar yous in addition to me. Ruth had human feelings, questions, in addition to challenges. But she is an trial of faith, humility in addition to forbearance.

God rewarded Ruth yesteryear placing her inwards the bloodline of Jesus, in addition to He recorded Ruth's even out to fix our faith.

What is He maxim to you through her even out today?

The Frozen Chosen

A.D. 320, Roman Empire:

Forty Christian warriors refused to obey majestic orders to worship infidel gods.

To forcefulness their submission, the commander stripped them of their wearing clothing in addition to made them stand upwardly on a frozen pond.

For hours the men praised God piece guards on shore shouted that warm baths awaited whatsoever who recanted.

In the middle of the night, i homo crawled to shore.

But their publish was shortly restored when a guard proclaimed his faith, tore off his wearing clothing in addition to joined the thirty-nine.

The side past times side morn twoscore frozen warriors were ushered into Glory.

Few of us volition popular off for Christ, only volition nosotros alive for Him (Romans 12:1-2)?

Will nosotros beak truth inwards the confront of icy criticism (Luke 9:26)?

When nosotros listen of persecuted Christians "standing naked on the frozen pond," volition nosotros blanket them inwards prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)?

Will nosotros give to God's move fifty-fifty if it costs us a warm bathroom (2 Corinthians 9:7)?

3 Benefits Of Sacrifice

I wrote virtually missing my grandchildren (here), in addition to a reader asked why I don't alive closer to them.

We used to alive x minutes away.

Then inwards 2015, nosotros felt the Lord directing us to deed to about other state in addition to thence my married adult man could volunteer amongst a ministry building during his retirement years.

Sometimes God's loving plans involve sacrifice.

Throughout history missionaries convey given their lives for the Gospel (Danger, Death, Devotion, Saint's Life). In about countries, Christians endure for their faith daily (Worth the Risk).

Our sacrifice is pocket-size comparatively.

But God's children convey these rewards:
1. Purposeful, specific function prepared past times God for us (Ephesians 2:10).
2. Peace inwards problem (John 16:33).
3. Future rewards (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).

“Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or manlike individual bring upwards or woman bring upwards or married adult woman or children or fields for my sake volition have a hundred times equally much in addition to volition inherit eternal life.” Matthew 19:29
